The
Lancashire Environmental Fund (LEF) is an environmental body enrolled
with the Government's regulatory body, ENTRUST, to provide funding
for a wide variety of projects to improve the environment and bring
community benefits throughout the county of Lancashire.
Partners
SITA
UK Ltd has chosen to direct landfill tax credits
to the Fund.
Lancashire
County Council also provides financial support to
maximise the amount of landfill tax credits available.
The
Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North
Merseyside provides the administrative services
for the Fund.
Community
Futures supports a wide range of organisations and
community initiatives.
Formed
as a non-profit company in 1998 as a partnership of Lancashire
County Council, SITA UK Ltd, the Wildlife Trust for Lancashire,
Manchester and North Merseyside and Community Futures, the
Fund has allocated over £13m to more than 400 environmental
and community projects throughout the county to date.
The
Fund works closely with Lancashire
County Council's Environmental Projects Team. This partnership
means that they can offer a unique mix of resources to help
to deliver projects from initial advice through to funding
and project implementation.
Funding
comes from contributions by landfill tax operators, SITA UK Ltd
and Neales Waste Management Ltd. The Fund also receives a contribution
from Lancashire County Council.
