Information
Lancashire
Environmental Fund is a partnership between SITA UK Ltd, Lancashire
County Council, The Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and
North Merseyside and Community Futures.
The
Fund is financed by Landfill Tax donations from SITA UK Ltd and
Neales Waste Management Ltd together with a contribution from Lancashire
County Council. For further information on the Landfill Communities
Fund visit www.ltcs.org.uk
Formed
as a non-profit company in 1998 the Fund has allocated over £15m
to more than 500 environmental, community and waste management
projects throughout the county to date.
Non-profit
organisations can apply for funding for environmental and community
initiatives which benefit the environment and people of Lancashire.
There are three funding initiatives - Community Chest,
for awards from £3,000-£15,000, Strategic Fund for awards of up
to £25,000. The Fund also sponsors environmental placement opportunities.
Although
there are several national landfill tax funders supporting projects
in Lancashire, LEF are based within the county and provide funding
over the largest area. The Fund is not controlled by any local authority,
landfill operator or company and is an association of four Board
members, an Application Assessment Group (whose members are drawn
from environmental and community groups) and four staff members.
